I've been a news junkie for as long as I can remember but as I am not on social media (apart from TWTD), I do feel I am in control. I have also for as long as I can remember listened to the World Service on a daily basis, and find it is well worth listening to to take a wider and more balanced view of what is going. Indeed, I normally go to sleep listening to Newshour (having wound it back to the beginning on BBC Sounds) and wake up to either Weekend or Newsday. The other thing to say is that there is, and always has been, a lot of suffering in the world but it isn't realistic or healthy, for example, to go into mourning for, maybe, thousands who might die in an earthquake.
